Description:The last type of pewter, known as "lay" or "ley" metal, was used for items that were not in contact with food or drink. During the 18th and 19th centuries, workshops and factories in European countries manufactured as much as 30, tons of pewter per year, making metalware objects such as plates, bowls, cups, teapots, pitchers, ice buckets, and candlesticks.
